Understanding Sri Lanka in a Changing World
Sri Lanka’s economic trajectory is shaped not only by domestic policy choices, but also external forces. In an increasingly volatile global landscape, geopolitical tensions, competing interests, and shifting regional and global power dynamics have significant implications for the country’s economic progress.
Through research and advocacy, we examine Sri Lanka’s economy through a political economy lens, mapping how global developments intersect with local economic realities.
While our work has consistently explored China-Sri Lanka relations, we take a look beyond bilateral relations to examine the broader geopolitical context through our flagship publication Lanka Dispatch: Mapping Sri Lanka’s Place in the World.
Beyond international dynamics, we also analyse the domestic political and institutional factors that shape economic outcomes. Our research aims to bridge technical economic analysis with political realities, providing a more holistic understanding of where Sri Lanka’s economy stands — and what lies ahead.
