Economic Civic Education: Phase III

Updated: 12 hours ago

Teacher training workshops

As part of Arutha’s core mission of advancing economic knowledge and literacy among Sri Lankans, Arutha has been engaging closely with the Tea Leaf Trust to deliver economic civic education to TLT’s students, teachers and administrators.

Arutha conducted a 2.5 day in-person teacher training workshop for 10 TLT educators to prepare for the roll-out of the new curriculum at TLT centres. This was held from the 27- 29th of March 2026. These educators were principals, senior teachers and teacher trainers representing each of the 6 TLT centres in Bogawanthalawa, Thawalantenne, Ragala, Maskeliya, Nanu Oya and Amba Estate.

The training covered all chapters of the ‘Economics for Everyone’ curriculum and ended with mini-mock sessions where each educator demonstrated their teaching techniques and knowledge. In late March 2026, the trained TLT educators delivered 30-minute mock sessions based on one of the lessons in the curriculum for which Arutha provided feedback for further refinement.
